Some head studies of characters from the artist Harry Clarke for a class project I'm currently working on. I love his style so these studies were a lot of fun!

Inktober 2

Better late than never, this last Inktober spread is one of my favorites of the month!
I was Tina Belcher for Halloween this year, so naturally day 31 had to be a drawing of her.

Inktober Part 1

I've been having a lot of fun doing the Inktober challenge this month! I've decided to do a couple big posts instead of daily ones. Here is the first half, days 1-16 - more coming soon!

This Side of Paradise

A friend of mine recently recommended that I read This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The characters were so fantastic I decided to work on designs for some of them, so here are some sketches of Amory Blaine and two of his lady loves, Rosalind and Eleanor! More on this to come!

This past weekend I got to attend an animal drawing workshop with Joe Weatherly. A handful of fellow Shrunkenheadmen and I spent all day Friday drawing with him at the Oakland Zoo, it was so much fun and such a great learning experience!

Coffeeshop Portraits

I recently went drawing with a friend of mine, and she wanted to draw me so I decided to draw her as well. With growing frustration because my drawing looked nothing like her, I finally realized the problem: I wasn't squinting! As soon as I did, everything fell into place so much easier. Not the best portrait in the world, but I felt it was worth posting for a good lesson learned (remembered?).

These next couple weeks are full of vacations for me, so I will hopefully return with some decent drawings.....and actually remember to post them!

Winter Sketchbook!

Just a little update with a few of the first pages from my portfolio sketchbook (:

These were done in San Jose at Christmas in the Park and Santana Row before I left for winter break. The tree with lanterns is one of my favorite pieces in my sketchbook so far, I just had a lot of fun with painting it (:
